561 Ciao from new member in Calabria
Just a quick ciao from sunny Calabria. I've been living here for almost a year now and generally loving life. It's not the most simple place in the world to work but lots of other things to make up for that. Anybody else in Calabria? I live in Cosenza - best city in Calabria in my opinion to live. 30 minutes from the beach and mountains and some stunning scenery all around. I'd be interested to hear from anyone else thinking of moving here - I know the coast very well and maybe be able to give you some good advice about buying a home etc. I'm and English teacher - born in Hereford, Uni in Portsmouth and lived in London for 8 years too....
Still finding it difficult to speak in Italian - think it's because I speak English all day in my job.Understand well though - difficult language to speak.
Best things about Italy so far....
Food, wine, Apperitifs, Campari and soda, weather, friendly people, relaxed way of life, clothes, shoes, Vespa's and cheap cost of living.
Bad things;
driving in Cosenza, tight bosses, nosey people, illegal ugly buildings destroying our cities and beaches and no decent steak!
Regards,
Stu
