With all the complications of Italian bureaucracy I thought I should ask the following and be better safe than sorry.
When we move to Italy we are going to live initially in the apartment my father-in-law owns. He lives in England currently and so the flat is empty for most of the year. Obviously we will be paying the utilities but he won't charge us rent. Is this going to have any sort of tax implications for him or will it present us with any problems with residency etc as house won't be in our name and no rental agreement.
As far as the tax situation goes he also owns 2 houses further up the mountain one dilapidated and one fully functional. In his true Italian style he seems to think there won't be a problem btu I'm not so sure and don't want to land him or us with a vast bill to pay when it can be avoided.
Any help really appreciated!
Cheers
Matt
