About 3 weeks earler than normal the 2007 vintage (vendemia) harvest has begun here in Piedmont. White grape varieties such as moscato and chardonnay are amongst the first to be harvested along with some of the sweeter red grapes such as bonarda.
So Piedmont's vineyards are once again full of famlies and workers picking bunches and the roads are slowed to a snails pace by tractors ladened with grapes destined for local wine cantinas.
