7851 Italian Grand Prix
Last month I was dragged [kicking & screaming] to Monza, by my brother in law for my first Grand Prix. With cap in hand, I have to admit I quite enjoyed it. The TV definitely does no justice to the occasion; the atmosphere, the noise, the fans, the beer and the unbelievable speed. I didn't even know that other races took place before the main event!
The shock of the morning was having to stand for the Irish national anthem [again, dragged to my feet by my brother-in-law] after Damien Faulkener (Ireland) won the Porsche Carrera Cup race.
Full marks for the organization of the event. No queues, no hanging around and no problems. The bus services to and from the car parks were fantastic.
Felt a little sorry for the Ferrari fans. Their race was over fairly early on.
I noticed a fair amount of Spanish fans there, supporting Alonso. Strangely, and without exception, nearly all of them were displaying anti Hamilton banners; basically declaring him a Judas.
Is this simply because he's doing better than Alonso, and shouldn't? Or is it something else?
I couldn't have cared less who won but, after seeing that, I hope Hamilton wins the title.
