This article shows that the government is finally recognizing the need for a more consolidated, informative and comprehensive web portal to promote Italian Tourism. The trouble is, the idea was conceived and the project started in 2003 and in typical Italian fashion, it's still incomplete and over €45million has already been spent.
Unfortunately, it was conceived during Berlusconi's last period of office and Prodi's deputy says that "The project was born already obsolete in technological, organizational and conceptual terms,", which is encouraging.
How difficult is it to create a logo, identity and web site and how on earth do they convince taxpayers that this spend is justified. No doubt the advertising agency is wholly owned by one of Berlusconi's offshore entities.
