5924 Lago Di Garda
Firstly the quickest and cheapest way to get to Lake Garda is either with Ryan air from Stanstead, Easyjet from Bristol , Liverpool or Gatwick..
The scenery is absolutely amazing, sailing with high mountains all around you and right under large cliff faces.
There is a good stretch of promenade to stroll along the shores, in parts it is lined with pavement cafes and restaurants, there are also park benches over looking the lake where one can sit and take in the view. At the most northerly end of the promenade is a pebble beach where one can bathe in the waters of Garda which are safe, clean and warm. The beach is popular but not overcrowded so one does not have to fight for a space. There is also a small town park near to the beach, with essential facilities such as toilets and a café.
When i first jumped in the water, i couldn't believe how cold it was, but for some bizarre reason, the longer i stayed the more enjoyable the water came to be in, it no longer felt as cold and was very refreshing.
Not only sailing but windsurfing is hugely popular on the Lake. It can be summarised as a 'windsurf city'. They were literraly across the whole lake at the Riva del Garda end.
The weather was generally fantastic, but we did experience, which can be typical for the area, extremely strong and cold winds from the mountains. These certainly aren't enjoyable to be in, if you aren't very experienced or confident, but i saw it as more an amazing spectacle, which the area has to offer.
