6442 A nice story told to me about Santa Maria in Trastevere

I was having a walk with a trasteverini and they told me a story about the four Popes that adorn the front portico of the venerable "old" church.
Thees four Popes went for a walk to Trastevere one day. " It was many years ago" and they stood on the spot that they are immortalized today and asked each other about what they should do and (if you see the statues you will see) the first said....I'm hungry! and the second statue responded....Lets go to that restaurant across the piazza "Sabatinis"! where by the third statue rubbing his fingers said....Its too expensive! and the forth retorted, dramatically pointing to his left and down a small alley...OK! I think we can afford the Chines down that Cull De sac......
