8231 Festa Della Toscana SARTEANO & MONTEPULCIANO
I hope this post does not offend the advertising rules of the Forum! I just want to inform members and readers of the forum of an annual Tuscan event on Sunday 25th 2007, which promises to be a great day out.
The Festival of Tuscany, celebrating the abolition of the death penalty on 30 November 1786 in Tuscany, will take place on 25th November 2007 in the villages of Sarteano and Montepulciano. This is the first time the festival will be held in these two villages. I understand the festival is rotated annually among the Tuscan villages. The weather forecast for the day is cloudy and cold, but no rain!
The programme is:
Sunday 25 AM: Sarteano at 10 am the start from the centre of the village of a Grand Parade of 1200 people dressed in historical costumes representing 30 groups from around Tuscany.
Sunday 25 PM: At 12 noon there will be an exhibition of music, drum beating and flags throwing in the Piazza at Sarteano. The participants will have lunch in Sarteano at the Sports Centre before moving on to Montepulciano. The restaurants in Sarteano will be offering a typical Tuscan menu at a fixed price to the public. The participants will gather in Montepulciano at 2pm in Piazza S.Agnese and the parade is scheduled to start at 2.30 pm.
This promises to be a great day out!
