The Italian song of the week - "Fatti mandare dalla mamma"

"Fatti mandare dalla mamma" by Gianni Morandi (1944 - ).

He achieved a national stardom with this song in 1962. He won a number of Italian popular song festivals such as Canzonissima in 1969 and Festival di Sanremo in 1987. He also appeared in many films  and was then loved by many fans.

"Fatti mandare dalla mamma" talks about a boy asking the girl he loves to get out of home so they can meet by convincing her mother to send her to go get some milk - the title translates to "get your mum to send you".

In times of much less freedom in Italy couples often had to invent all sorts of excuses to meet up.
