Multiple-Oscar-winners Hilary Swank and Oliver Stone are among the Hollywood A listers taking part in the upcoming movie bonanza on this island in the Gulf of Naples.
Organizers of the fifth edition of Ischia Global Film & Music Fest, which takes place July 9-15, have unveiled a star-packed programme that confirms the young event has big ambitions.
"If half of what we have prepared this year were scrapped, this festival would still be the cinema event of the summer," said producer Pascal Vicedomini.
"We are just a little part of a huge system but we have important goals, the first of which is to be useful to Italian cinema and Italian artists".
Swank, who won best actress Academy Awards for Boys Don't Cry and Million Dollar Baby, will receive a special Ischia Legend award from the Region of Campania at the fest.
British actor Sir Ben Kingsley and Italy's Giuseppe Tornatore, the director of the Oscar-winning Cinema Paradiso, will receive the Ischia Legend career awards too.
Three-time Oscar winner Stone will take part in the festival's Social Cinema Forum.
This will see the director of Born on the Fourth of July and Platoon discuss cinema and social issues with the public.
Mexican director Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu, the maker of Babel, 21 Grams and Amores Perros, and Britain's Stephen Frears will also take part in this section of the fest.
William Monahan, who won an Oscar for his screenplay for The Departed earlier in the year, will give tips on writing for cinema at the World Script Market.
Seminars will be given by Britain's Michael Radford, the director of the 1994 Italian-language international hit Il Postino (The Postman), and Terry Gilliam, the American director and former member of the Monty Python comedy team.
The Italian previews of Smokin' Aces, the story of a Mafia turncoat starring Ray Liotta and Ben Affleck, and Mr. Brooks, a psychological thriller with Demi Moore and Kevin Costner, are on the programme of film screenings.
Special attention is being devoted to the Renaissance Brazilian cinema is enjoying at the moment and two of the country's top directors, Helvecio Ratton and Sergio Rezende, are set to attend.
The festival also has a music section in which American singer Sheryl Crow and Laura Pausini, the princess of Italian pop, will be given special career awards.
The 2007 Ischia Global Film & Music Fest is chaired by Paul Haggis, the director of 2006 Oscar-winning movie Crash.
The festival is based at the Regina Isabella hotel in the town of Lacco Ameno.
