The company is looking for mothers willing to share their recipes and traditions as part of a campaign for authentic Italian pasta
Fancy becoming a bit of an Italian-style Nigella? Fresh pasta maker Giovanni Rana is looking for foodie mothers of Italian heritage or with Italian connections to spearhead his campaign for ‘fresh pasta justice’ in Britain.
Although the British have long been enjoying Italian food, Rana is keen to raise awareness on how to make and serve a proper pasta dish, Italian-style, and wants to set up a Mums Panel to help him in his task.
The mamme on the panel will share with the nation their recipes, traditions and passion for cooking genuine Italian food from fresh ingredients. They will show the British how easy, fun and yummy it is to make Italian family dishes—from the simplest pasta al sugo for total novices to more elaborate recipes for connoisseurs.
He is looking for Italian mothers living in the UK, those of Italian descent or those who married into an Italian family. They don’t need to have professional food training but they must be passionate about good food and all things Italian. The mums who make it into the panel will win a a trip to Verona, the birthplace of Giovanni Rana, including £1,000 spending money.
This is not the first time Giovanni Rana relies on mothers—indeed his entire pasta business is based on their advice. When Rana, a baker by family trade, decided to move into fresh pasta making in 1961, he turned to experienced Italian housewives to learn the craft. He has been following their recommendations ever since, and now intends to bring the same tradition into Britain.
If you think you could make a good Giovanni Rana Mum, or want to nominate someone who will, visit www.giovannirana.co.uk/campaign4mums and fill out an entry form. Successful candidates will be notified by phone and email.
