The fashion house Versace, in partnership with French company ModeLabs Group, is to introduce a mobile phone which will retail at over $5000.
Upmarket mobile phones have always been fashion accessories and Dior, Prada, D&G and Armani already have phones on the market.
Few details of the Versace phone have been released but it is rumoured that it will feature leather, rare earth metal and precious stones.
Donatella Versace is said to have worked on the phone design personally and clients will be able to purchase customised versions. Operating-system upgrades will also be offered to keep up with the pace of change in new technology.
The first phones should be available in May. The Versace phone will be unveiled for select clients at an invitation-only, private viewing at the Hotel Plaza Athénée in Paris next week.
We thought we’d get half a dozen for the office.
