Italian soccer's anti-racism norms may be stiffened to allow for harsher penalties, Italian Soccer Federation President Giancarlo Abete said Monday after Juventus got a one-game stadium ban for fans' racial abuse of Inter striker Mario Balotelli.
''We are willing to take into consideration a stiffening of the norms, allowing for longer penalties,'' Abete said.
However, he stressed that Italy was not the ''dregs of the world'' when it came to racist jeering.
Juve, who fell ten points behind Inter in the title race with Saturday's 1-1 draw, will play their next home match, against Lecce on May 3, behind closed doors.
