Artopoli Board Game Launched

| Mon, 10/21/2013 - 05:00

Artopoli, a new board game similar to Monopoly, has been released.

The game for children and families debuted at Florence’s Villa Bardini. Artopoli is an initiative from the Artediffusa cultural association to accompany the ongoing ‘Il Rinascimento da Firenze a Parigi’ (The Renaissance from Florence to Paris) exhibition at the villa.

Artopoli is like Monopoly but instead of amassing properties, players play with works of art based on the themes, collectors and artists featured in the exhibition. The aim of the game is to learn about art history and the passion of art collecting through the roll of a dice.

‘The Renaissance from Florence to Paris’ is open until 31 December 2013. The exhibition brings the core of the Florentine Renaissance collection held in the Jacquemart-André Museum in Paris to Italy. Thirty masterpieces have returned to the town where they were created to be exhibited in the house-atelier of Stefano Bardini, the merchant who sold them. The show includes works by Sandro Botticelli, Andrea Mantegna, Paolo Uccello, Luca Signorelli, Alesso Baldovinetti, Donatello and Giambologna, as well as bronzes, furniture and ceramics.
