Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, currently on the International Space Station on a five-month mission, has joined a global sing-along of John Lennon's iconic 'Imagine' organized by Unicef.
She recorded her version of the song from space, with the Earth seen in the background.
“I imagine a better world in which all children can get an education and be inspired to build for themselves the future they imagine,” Samantha says in the video.
The IMAGINE project brings together artist Yoko Ono, music producer and DJ David Guetta, UNICEF Ambassadors, including Katy Perry, Angélique Kidjo, Daniela Mercury, Priyanka Chopra, Yuna Kim, and a host of other high profile supporters “with the aim of creating a unique moment in music history that will highlight the tremendous challenges children face the world over.”
On New Year's Eve 2014, Unicef released a 'world version' of the song with famous artists from around the world to raise awareness of children's rights globally.
