Go on a mesmerizing journey to relive the history of Siena. The city has launched a pilot project, named “La Divina Bellezza – Discovering Siena”, which consists of 3D images projected on the "facciatone" of the Duomo Nuovo, tracing the history of the Tuscan town and the construction of its magnificent cathedral.
The video mapping initiative projects images weighing 6 million pixels on a 800-square-meter surface, with original music and audio in Italian and English. By telling, in five acts, the history of the Duomo and of the Duomo Nuovo (the enlargement of the original Duomo), whose construction began in the 13th century, it tells the story of the city and its people. At the time, Siena was one of the largest and richest cities in Europe, and the grand cathedral would stand as a symbol of its power.
The show will take place every night in Piazza Jacopo della Quercia until September 30 (except during the Palio, Aug. 13-16, and between Sept. 4-6), with two projections each night, at 9:15 pm and 10:15 pm. The show lasts 30 minutes. For more information, click here.
