Fresh revelations, including records of direct telephone calls between Berlusconi and the Bari businessman Tarantini regarding organising escorts for Berlusconi's parties make it increasingly difficult for Berlusconi or his team to defend them.
The new leaks reveal that Berlusconi talked directly with Tarantini, exchanged remarks about which girls should be at the parties and Tarantini prodding Berlusconi to come because specific girls would be there. The records apparently say that Tarantini told Berlusconi "the blond one will be there, you can't miss it". Berlusconi has denied any direct contact with Tarantini and has even said that he may vaguely remember seeing him once.
Tarantini has admitted in written records to have taken more than 30 girls during 18 parties with at least 5 of them spending the night with Berlusconi.
Berlusconi defense in the media has now focused on attacking the leaks rather than answering the direct accusations with language that is increasingly irritated. There are also moves to change the head magistrate at Bari, bringing in a man from the Ministry of Justice, that has promised to make it harder for leaks to get out.
Dismissing claims that the press should be allowed to use such leaks, Bondi attacked ''irresponsible power which is fuelled by the use of the murkiest, most unreliable and uncontrollable material''.
He said leaks like the latest one, which said escorts attended the premier's parties without him knowing they were prostitutes, represented threats to Italy's political system and ''even more to the normal democratic life of our country''.
Berlusconi, who has admitted to not being ''a saint'', has never directly denied sleeping with her but says he has never paid for sex.
He is suing Italian and foreign newspapers for defamation and breach of privacy. The Italian premier has been hit by reports on his private life since his wife, Veronia Lario, sued for divorce in May claiming he frequented minors and was ''not well''.
The press has probed Berlusconi's friendship with an 18-year-old aspiring model, Noemi Letizia, whose 18th birthday party the premier attended just before Lario announced her decision to split.
Berlusconi, who will be 73 on September 29, has denied any ''spicy'' relationships with Letizia or other minors.
