On August 10 every year, on the night of San Lorenzo, wine lovers across Italy enjoy one of summer’s most popular event: Calici di Stelle.
Many cellars around Italy open their doors to host wine tastings and cultural events under the stars beginning tomorrow until the end of the week. Some organize their events on the beach, like in Friuli Venezia Giulia, on the beach in Grado, where 30 wine producers will present their best labels accompanied by local food delicacies (Aug. 8-10). In Veneto, on the terraces of mountain huts in Cortina D’Ampezzo, dinners and skygazing will go hand in hand (Aug. 9), while in Puglia, in the villages of Trani and Copertino, wine tasting courses will be offered, along with an original treasure hunt to discover the varieties of local vines. These are just some of the events on offer, every region has their own, and you can check them out here.
This year’s edition is dedicated to singer Domenico Modugno, on the 20th anniversary of his death.
The annual event is organized by Movimento Turismo del Vino and Città del Vino.
