Mafia has expanded on the Internet and reached Facebook, the social network website joined by uncountable users daily. Among thousands of groups and fan pages on Facebook, mafia supporters have been taking their own spaces and promote them.
A recent example is the Pomigliano Camorra group, apparently created by a few young members, which seems to look for mafia lovers. It is not sure whether the group is linked to a criminal organization or to a vandalism gang in the Pomigliano area, according to town administrators and investigators.
This is only one of the many mafia-related applications that populate the social network. Mafia and Camorra gangsters are supported as well: more than 2 000 people are fans of the "boss of bosses" Toto Riina Fan Page.
On the other hand, groups or pages celebrating mafia and mafia leaders are attacked by various other groups, like this one which claims to be furious about such fan clubs and the messages on the Riina Fan Page "wishing him a happy Christmas, telling him he's ''great'' and posting videos about him".
Mafia followers and opposers meet on Facebook like in a virtual war we don't know if it will ever end.
