Carolina Kostner, one of Italy's most popular athletes, won the bronze medal in the Olympic women's figure skating at the Sochi Winter Olimpic Games.
She came third behind Russia's Adelina Sotnikova, who won the gold, and defending champion Yuna Kim of South Korea.
Kostner, one of Italy's most popular athletes, has finally broke her streak of bad luck at the Olympic games winning her first Olympic medal, after five European titles and several world medals. It was a redeeming accomplishment after she flopped at Turin in 2006, where she finished ninth, a fairly disastrous free skate in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, where she fell three times finishing in a disappointing 19th place.
Kostner's performance to "Ave Maria" was one of the most emotional routines of the evening. Enjoy the video of her performance of the Ave Maria at the Oberstdorf Ice Gala in 2013.
