Coffee Shop on the Go: The World's Smallest Bar

The concept of “street food” applied to Italy’s most beloved beverage, espresso: a cart attached to a bicycle carrying a mini coffee machine to roam the city streets and sell coffee on the go.

The idea comes from two young entrepreneurs from Treviso, who are testing the project, called “Espresso on the go” (Espresso al volo), on the streets of their hometown. Lorenzo Giacomin and Samuele Zavan are already looking to expand abroad, by bringing their patent to Europe, the U.S. and Australia. It could also represent, they say, a great opportunity for young people looking to start their own business with a low investment cost: rather than opening a coffee shop, which requires tens of thousands of euros, the “coffee bike” costs between 5,000 and 6,000 euros.

It remains to be seen how successful it could be in Italy, considering there is a coffee shop at every corner…
