Dan Brown Wants Roberto Benigni To Play In Inferno Movie

‘The Da Vinci Code’ author Dan Brown has said he would like Italian actor and director Roberto Benigni to play in a movie based on his latest novel ‘Inferno’. The American author was in Florence for the launch of the Italian translation of his latest thriller, ‘Inferno’, which is set in Italy. The book is named after the first part of Italian poet Dante Alighieri’s epic ‘The Divine Comedy’. Sony Pictures is likely to produce a film based on Brown’s ‘Inferno’, which features the character of Robert Langdon, a Harvard professor of symbology. No production date has been announced for the movie, which would be filmed mostly in Florence. Oscar-winner Benigni is know for his recitations of Dante’s poetry, which he performs to packed venues in Italy. Brown said: “It would be an honour to have Roberto Benigni, the great actor, in the upcoming film. I’ve seen Begnini’s shows on Dante on YouTube and they are marvellous.” The writer admitted that he has not approached Begnini about a possible role: “I haven’t talked with Benigni yet and I hope to do so soon.” Benigni said he hopes Brown will come to one of his live shows. He said theirs staff have been in touch and the pair will have a meeting. The actor admitted that he has yet to read Brown’s ‘Inferno’, which was published in English in May 2013 to mixed reviews. The publicity for the novel says: “Langdon battles a chilling adversary and grapples with an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. Drawing from Dante’s dark epic poem, Langdon races to find answers and decide whom to trust... before the world is irrevocably altered.”
