Throughout summer, visitors to Padua will have the chance to learn more about historical figures hailing from the area, as part of the annual “Notturni d’Arte” event.
Special tours have been set up to take the public inside historical buildings, museums, churches and monuments, each of them tied to a famous local person, from the painter Giotto to the founder of modern science Galileo, from Elena Cornaro Piscopia, the first woman to graduate, to Saint Anthony, possibly the world’s most beloved saint.
Some lesser-known figures will also be featured, like Giovanni Antonio Rizzi Zannoni, considered the greatest Italian cartographer of the modern era.
Besides the guided tours, the program includes theater performances, children’s activities, concerts and even a hot air balloon flight (August 7) to commemorate the first ascent made in Italy, which took place from the famed square of Prato della Valle, one of the largest squares in Europe.
