A new Eataly location is set to open today in Florence.
The 2,000-square-meter space in the centrally located Via Martelli will feature three levels and a library, to honor the historic Martelli library, famous for being the first to publish The Adventures of Pinocchio by Italian author Carlo Collodi. Eataly Florence will in fact take the space previously occupied by the historic library, which closed in 2010.
Eataly Florence will be dedicated to and inspired by the Renaissance. The store will provide audio guides for customers to listen to the stories of the places and people that made Florence the cradle of Italian culture during the Renaissance.
Some of the delicacies that customers will be able to enjoy include extra virgin olive oil, Chianina meat, finocchiona (a typical Tuscan cold cut), ham from Casentino, mortadella from Prato, pici (thick hand-rolled pasta), Tuscan bread to use for paté and for the Tuscan Appetizer, local legumes and much more.
Eataly has recently opened a second U.S. location, after New York, in Chicago.
