Confusione does mean disorder or confusion but it is also used for “crowded” :
C’é molta confusione – there is a crowd or a lot of traffic.
Un argomento is not an argument but a subject or theme.
Una discussione is an argument.
Un dibattito is a discussion [though “discussione” is sometimes used in this sense].
Italians will often say
Questo è il discorso – This is the question.
