Fans protest Kaka move

AC Milan fans on Wednesday gathered outside club headquarters to protest the reported transfer of Brazil star Kaka to Real Madrid.

About 30 fans chanted slogans against Milan CEO Adriano Galliani, much as they did for days in January before Kaka rejected a 100-million-euro ($142 million) deal with Manchester City.

The protest was highly vocal but peaceful and dispersed after about half an hour, police said.

Milan are said to have reached a deal, to be announced Monday, in which the 27-year-old former European and World Footballer of the Year would move to the Bernabeu for a rumoured 68 million euros ($96 million).

However, Chelsea under ex-Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti are reportedly trying to start a last-minute bidding war with an offer of 80 million euros ($114 million).

The move would set a new world record for soccer transfers, beating the 55 million euros ($78 million) Real paid Juventus for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.
