Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini flew to Luxembourg Monday for European Union swine flu talks.
The risks of the virus reaching Italy are ''really insignificant,'' he said, while welcoming moves to set up an Italian health ministry crisis unit and information line and distribute leaflets at airports.
At the EU level, he said, ''anything useful for coordinating (efforts) is welcome,'' he said.
European Health Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou will brief EU ministers Monday on the virus that has killed 103 people in Mexico and infected 20 people in the United States and six in Canada.
There have also been suspected cases in New Zealand and Israel but none in Europe.
The World Health Organization said Monday ''the world has never been readier'' to face a flu threat.
