Premier Silvio Berlusconi said Monday he will meet United States President Barack Obama next month for talks ahead of July's Group of Eight conference.
Berlusconi added that he was speaking ''almost daily'' with other G8 leaders about this year's summit, to be hosted by Italy in the earthquake-stricken city of L'Aquila.
The premier stressed that representatives of many non-G8 countries will join the talks from the second day so that there would be around ''90% of the world economy'' around the table.
During the G8 leaders will thrash out an ethical code for finance to avoid new global economic crises, he added.
The G8 summit, which runs July 8-10, was moved to L'Aquila from its original venue on the Sardinian island of La Maddalena in a bid to help focus international attention on the damage caused by the April 6 quake.
