Geroge Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis have issued a statement from London, revealing that their two-year relationship has come to an end.
The couple released an official joint statement, writing: "We are no longer together. It is very difficult and very personal, so we hope that our privacy is respected".
The announcement comes as somewhat of a surprise as the couple was spotted last week having a romantic dinner in Lake Como.
Elisabetta recently gave an interview to an Italian weekly magazine alluding to the possibility of marriage with her notoriously commitment-shy American beau.
It certainly has not been a good week for Elisabetta. In addition to splitting with a hunky A-list actor, her debut on a new Italian television programme was not well received. In fact, Elisabetta appeared so cold and snobbish on “La notte degli chef”, that she was replaced by her supposed rival, Belen Rodriguez, after the first night.
