“PastaTrend”, “the first major exhibition devoted to the world of pasta” will take place in Bologna from 24-27 April and comprises four main exhibition areas: pasta, sauces and ingredients; kitchen facilities, accessories and catering; raw materials and equipment; and gastronomy, chefs and entertaining.
In the pasta area, visitors can learn about “pasta from A to Z” and see hundreds of different pasta shapes made from durum and soft wheat, egg pasta, wholemeal pasta and even biological pasta. Then there are all the sauces and dressings you could ever imagine plus dozens of fillings. Of course, you’ll want to learn how to cook at least some of these and in the gastronomy area you can watch cookery demonstrations, get advice from top chefs and find new recipes.
You can learn about new trends in pasta cooking from all over the world but there will be a focus on traditional recipes from Italy’s regions as well. And who could resist entering a fun contest on pasta?
There’s no need to worry if, after watching the chefs, you start thinking, “I’d like to do that but I don’t have the equipment” for, in the kitchen facilities area, you can find everything you’ll ever need to cook delicious pasta dishes. There’s a cookbook section, too, so you can spend some time browsing. Professional caterers will be able to find everything from kitchen furniture to clothing to advice on staff training.
For professional pasta-manufacturers there will be displays of cereals, seeds, flours and semolinas, meetings and conferences on food research and displays of the very latest technology and equipment. Representatives of companies providing services to manufacturers will be on hand to give information and advice.
PastaTrend is open to the general public on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th April and a one-day ticket costs eight euros. Tickets can be booked online here.
