If you’re in the New York/New Jersey area, head to the Hoboken Italian Festival this weekend.
Celebrating its 87th year, the festival will be held at Sinatra Park on the river from Thursday, Sept. 4 through Sunday, Sept. 7.
The event is a celebration of the Madonna Dei Martiri, and features a procession on Saturday starting from St. Francis Church at 1:30 pm, through the streets of Hoboken, heading to Pier A, where a NY Waterways Ferry will bring the Statue of the Madonna to Ground Zero (WTC) for a special blessing and prayers. The boat will then return to Hoboken and, at around 7 pm, the procession will arrive at Sinatra Park, where the statue will be set up in a chapel.
The festival will also feature amusement rides, food, live music, vendors and a fireworks display on Saturday night.
The event runs from 6 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
