Internet Museum in Turin

Italy’s first museum devoted to the internet is to open in the centre of Turin. It is the inspiration of sportswear company owner Marco Boglione, who at the end of November purchased the very first Apple computer for €157,000 [£133,000 or $210,000] at auction at Christie’s. The computer came in its original packaging and with a signed letter from current Apple chief executive Steve Jobs. It originally cost $666 in 1976.

The museum is to be located in the former Teatro Scribe, a building which suffered heavy damage during the Second World War. It was left in its damaged state deliberately as a reminder of the horror of war.

Now Mr Boglione wants to fully restore the Theatre and use it to display computers, accessories and software which will, in future generations, become technological curiosities.
