Residents, including pensioners, of Castrovalva in L’Aquila, Abruzzo have made a video of themselves performing Donna Summer’s ‘Hot Stuff’ in an effort to promote their village to tourists.
Called ‘Castrovalva dreamin’ (un sogno a Castrovalva), the video shows Castrovalva residents young, old – and even canine – take to the village streets, alleys and piazza to dance and sing along to the sound of the 1979 disco hit. Locals also play guitars, bongos and keyboards against a backdrop of the Abruzzo mountains.
Villagers decided to do the video for fun and it then was used to promote tourism. A remote village on the top of a steep hill, Castrovalva has 22 permanent residents, who are mostly elderly. Residents with second homes in the village joined in making the video, which has become a YouTube hit.
