Italian yachts(ANSA) - The importance and power of Italy's super rich has now been measured by the length and size of their yachts.

The ranking was put together by the popular Italian gossip weekly Eva 3000 and will appear in its next edition, out on Thursday. Aside from the length of the boat, the magazine took into consideration how high-tech or cutting-edge it was.

Topping the overall list was the Renault Formula 1 team boss Flavio Britatore with his 65-meter boat Lady Blu. Giorgio Armani came in first in the category of yacht elegance with his 50-meter gem M/Y Marlu.

The fashion icon designed all the interiors and the boat was built by the Codecasa shipyards for a reported 20 million euros, Eva 3000 said. Another Italian designer, Roberto Cavalli, placed third in the general standings for his sleek, 41-meter speedboat Rc
Freedom, built by the historic Italian shipyard Baglietto.

Telecom Italia and Pirelli chief Marco Tronchetti Provera came in first in the sailboat class with his 32.7-meter ship Kauris II, which he personally skippers in races off Portofino. Also on the general list was son of Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi, Pier Silvio, with his boat Wait for Me, which was included not for its length, 'only' 15.85 meters, but for the fact that it has a top speed of 35.4 knots an hour, more than 65kph or 40mph.
