Anita Ekberg, known internationally for her role as the beautiful Sylvia in La Dolce Vita, is requesting financial assistance from the Fellini Foundation.
The actress, who recently celebrated her 80th birthday, has been in poor health for two years. Ekberg celebrated the milestone birthday from a hospital bed in a long term care facility. Now it appears that financial constraints are preventing the 1960s sex symbol from moving home.
Ekberg settled in a villa in Genzano, about 30 kilometers outside of Rome. A broken femur in 2009 left her unable to live autonomously and the former Swedish beauty queen Ekberg described her extended hospital stay as "infinitely long", complaining of loneliness.
Fellini's Dolce Vita star would like to move home, but the recent theft of jewelry and furniture has rendered her unable to afford renovations to her home that was previously damaged by fire.
Recognizing the dire state of the cinematic legend, her appointed guardian has sent a letter to the Fellini Foundation requesting that interested donors contribute any 'small gift' to the 'talented actress'.
