Now here is a calendar for all you romantics out there, for who could go to Italy and not fall in love at least once? The country is so beautiful, the atmosphere plays upon the senses and romance is always in the air.
The publicity staff at Lavazza certainly know this and romance is the theme for the company’s nineteenth collectible calendar, entitled “Falling in Love in Italy”, with pictures by the Texan photographer Mark Seliger.
Each scene has been shot in a different part of Italy and shows a couple along with a reference to coffee: for January and February a couple reclines on an enormous bed on the beach in Capri. There are coffee cups on the bed and one of the famous faraglioni [rock formations] behind the couple is shaped like a coffee cup.
The May-June image features a couple on Juliet’s balcony in Verona. Below them is an enormous coffee cup wrapped in a sheet. In the July – August image a couple sit on a giant haystack shaped like a saucer and lean on another which is shaped like a cup. In September – October the calendar takes us to Venice, where a couple, ignoring the high water around them, sit at a café table in St Mark’s Square. Beside them, a statue holds a coffee cup. For November-December we see a couple drinking coffee at night in a romantic garden.
Among the models are Bill Gentle, Olivia Wilde and her husband Tao Ruspoli.
