The walls that surround Lucca, le mura di Lucca, are the city’s most impressive attraction. 2013 marked 500 years since their construction and, to celebrate, the Tuscan town is planning to enter the Guinness Book of World Records by setting up a 1 km long table to be ready on June 27, when 2,000 diners are invited to sit down at the very special event.
The attempt is to not only beat the record for the world’s longest dinner table, but also to set up a special category for “longest table in the world over a historical monument.” The Committee of the Guinness World Records has already been notified.
A number of events celebrating the 500th anniversary is scheduled through October 2014.
