An Italian man who has spent 40 years building an amusement park in the middle of a forest in northern Italy has become the subject of a documentary.
The man, Bruno Ferrin, began building an amusement park on the forested hill of Montello in Treviso, Veneto in June 1969. What began as a way to attract clients to the Osteria Ai Pioppi restaurant in Nervesa della Battaglia he runs with his family, soon became a hobby he pursued with passion. The park now includes slides, swings, seesaws, gyroscopes and rollercoasters – and Ai Pioppi has grown to seat 500 people.
Ferrin’s pastime has become the subject of an 11-minute short documentary named ‘Ai Pioppi’ after the restaurant. The film is directed by Luiz Romero, Coleman Guyon and Giacomo Pennicchi. The movie was funded and produced by the Fabrica research centre in Catena di Villorba, Treviso.
The documentary focuses on Bruno’s hand-powered toys, his thoughts on life and death, and why he has spent more than half of his life creating rides.
