Every woman knows that a new pair of shoes can transform her outfit and her life and if those shoes happen to be high-heeled and red, so much the better.
Now visitors to Florence can indulge their “red shoe dreams” at a show featuring over a hundred pairs of red stilettos at the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo. “A Regola d’Arte” is a multimedia presentation where visitors can view a video about the making of the red stiletto, another about Ferragamo staff in the company’s branches around the world and yet another which compares the art of making shoes to that of playing the piano.
Visitors to the Museum will also be able to handle some of the exhibits and in the centre of the exhibition space there are two tables where they can put their chosen item down on a screen which will generate information about it.
A giant version of the famous golden sandal with a rainbow-coloured wedge heel made for Judy Garland in 1938 is also on display.
The aim of the exhibition is to inform visitors about how the company survived the difficult transition from exclusive to industrial production and how it keeps its values and standards intact today – hence the title of the show, “Up to Standard”.
A Regola d’Arte is at the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo, Florence until 7th March 2011.
Open from 10.00 – 18.00 daily except Tuesdays.
Entrance fee: €5.00
