(ANSA) - Italy's national railways company Trenitalia is set to introduce a new discount ticket which will allow passengers unlimited travel for 24 hours on any train for only 19 euros.
The tickets go on sale Saturday, October 1, at travel agencies and for the first time will also be available at supermarkets, 290 outlets in the Auchan, Sma and Cityper chains throughout Italy.
The new 'open' tickets will be on sale until the end of October and passengers can use them through the month of November. The second class ticket, called 'Viaggia quanto vuoi' (Travel as much as you like), will be valid on all trains, including the express 'Intercity' (IC) lines, but cannot be used on trains which require reservations, like the high-speed Eurocity (EC) service and sleeper cars.
