The New Etruscan Museum in Milan is a Thrilling Time Warp

A white hand ashtray sculpted in 1942 is lit in a glass case with terracotta hands and ears fired during the 3rd to 2nd centuries BCE.  Etruscans formed ex-voto (votive offerings) in anatomical shapes to put in tombs and on cremation urns as a bid to cure human organs in the afterlife. Swiss designer Diego Giacometti created the white terracotta Main as a series of interior decor objects. This unusual grouping at Milan’s Fondazione Luigi Rovati, which opened in September 20
