Giorgio Armani will be designing the uniform for the Italian Olympic team while Prada will sponsor the the Italian national sailing team. EA7 Armani, the sportswear off-shoot of Armani's empire launched in 2004, will officially clothe the Italian team at the London Olympic games.
Prada has announced their sponsorship of the Italian national sailing team for the Olympic and Paralympic games supplying the Olympians with sailing uniforms and placing the Prada logos on the ships used in competition throughout the 2012 season.
Prada's previous sponsorship of four America's Cup campaigns make the label an obvious choice to design not only the athletes uniforms, but also outfits for the technical staff. With Stella McCartney designing uniforms for the British Summer 2012 Olympic team and the US Olympic and Paralympic team enlisting the help of Ralph Lauren to design outfits for the opening and closing ceremony parade, we can expect the forthcoming 2012 Olympic games to attract not only sport lovers but many fashionistas as well!
