The 2014 edition of the popular summer festival held at the Baths of Caracalla in Rome opens June 24 with Bizet’s Carmen.
The annual open-air event features opera, ballet and music in the beautiful setting of Rome’s 3rd century baths.
This year’s program includes among others Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème, Gioacchino Rossini’s Barber of Seville, Tchaikovski’s Swan Lake and a special dance performance by Roberto Bolle & Friends on July 25.
The festival is organized by the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Rome’s opera house which opened in 1880.
The history and archeology of the place, combined with powerful music and dance performances, create a magic atmosphere worth experiencing if you’re in Rome this summer.
