Italy's Supreme Court, the Cassazione, has ruled that workers in Italy are entitled to be paid for “tempo tuta” or the time it takes them to change into their work overalls.

The Court upheld a ruling against the multinational company Unilever in a case brought by its Italian employees and decreed that workers are entitled to ten minutes' “overall time” pay every day.

The Court ruled that, where the company decides when and where its employees should change, workers must be paid for changing time, whereas if they put on their overalls at home before leaving for work, they are not entitled to “overall time”.
