Set among verdant hills close to Padua, this stone rustico affords lovely views over lush vineyards, olive groves and fields
Looming large over the fertile Padana plains, the Euganean hills gently rise and fall in a perfect mosaic of greens. The fern and myrtle hues of thick chestnut woods, sheltering common mushrooms and rare wild lilies in their undergrowth; the bright emerald of meadows, providing the backdrop for the vivid white, pink and yellow of shrub flowers; the glinting silver and the rich kelly green of neat vineyards, ringing ancient borghi and forbidding castles in a soft, verdant crown. This is the heart of Veneto, a place where Mediterranean and pre-Alpine landscapes blend and marry.
Here, just outside Vo’ Euganeo, within the hill’s regional nature reserve, Properties in Italy are selling a lovely stone rustico in need of work.
Perched up in a panoramic location, it is a typical Euganean cottage, built in vernacular style with honey-hued stones and brown wooden shutters.
“The rustico’s architecture is typical of the Euganean hills,” says Andrea Redivo of Properties in Italy. “What makes it really special, however, is its wonderful setting among the hills.”
The windows, he explains, frame “enchanting” views over tidy vineyards, lush fields and the gentle slopes beyond.
The building is in sound structural condition, as the roof and walls have already been refurnished. However, it needs to be completely renovated inside, offering buyers a great opportunity to tailor a picturesque country home to their own requirements.
“The rustico’s interiors need to be completely refurbished, but access to all the utilities, including the telephone, is already available,” says Redivo.
Even better, the property comes with some 10,000 square metres (just over 2.74 acres) of its own vineyards and olive trees.
The price is on application through Properties in Italy. For more information, contact +39 349 4520481 or visit www.propertiesinitaly.net.
