Following the success of the exhibition Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum, the British Museum has produced the first ever cinema event from a major exhibition.

A recorded version has been screened in 1,000 cinemas worldwide since August 29. Italy will hold a cinema screening on November 25 and 26.

It gives viewer the chance to see the wonders of the exhibition on the big screen, introduced  by British Museum Director Neil MacGregor, presented by Peter Snow and Bettany Hughes and featuring Giorgio Locatelli and exhibition curator Paul Roberts, bringing extraordinary objects to life.

The film also includes specially made films of Pompeii and Herculaneum today, and goes behind the scenes of the exhibition to explore the stories of these famous Roman cities.

The exhibition, which closed September 29, explored people’s lives in Pompeii and Herculaneum, from the bustling street to the intimate spaces of a Roman home.
