'Pull-out if rule changes applied'

Ferrari will pull out of the Formula One championship if the sports governing body FIA sticks to planned rule changes, the Italian team said Tuesday.

The new rules including budget caps are based on ''arbitrary technical rules and economic parameters,'' leading to a double standard, Ferrari said after a board meeting.

It accused FIA of taking such ''grave'' decisions without conferring with teams, ''flying in the face of norms that have helped F1 grow over the last 25 years, as well as clear commitments contractually made to Ferrari as regards regulatory stability''.

Ferrari said the priorities for the future should be ''the same rules for everyone, stability in rules, and a continuation in cost-cutting''.

''If these indispensable requirements aren't met and if the rules decided for 1010 aren't changed, Ferrari does not intend to sign its cars up for the next season''.

Ferrari noted that it was the only team that has taken part in every F1 championship since the competition was set up in 1950.
