(ANSA) - A family of three including a 13-year-old girl are feared dead in the July 23 blasts at the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, the Italian foreign ministry said on Wednesday. The family was not identified in accordance with relatives' wishes.
The ministry said a "limited" number of other inquiries into missing persons are being made. Media sources say less than ten Italians are missing. The fourth and final body in a group from Aci Castello near Catania in Sicily was identified today.
That brings the Italian death toll to five but it is shortly expected to rise to six. The fourth victim, Rita Privitera, was the girlfriend of Giovanni Conti, a Sicilian TV cameraman. Giovanni Conti's brother Sebastiano, a Sicilian hypermarket worker, was identified immediately on Saturday. Sebastiano Conti's wife Daniela Maiorana, who worked at the same supermarket, was identified on Sunday.
The Contis, who were enjoying a long-delayed honeymoon in Egypt, left an 18-month-old son and a three-year-old daughter. Two sisters from a small town near Lecce in Puglia were also victims and both were identified via DNA testing.
There are conflicting death tolls from the blasts which rocked the Red Sea resort. The Egyptian Health Ministry has said 63 while other sources say 88. Egyptian authorities say 18 bodies remain to be identified.
