(ANSA) - Twelve Serie A stars including European Footballer of the Year Andriy Shevchenko and Fiorentina's man of the moment Luca Toni are appearing in a glossy calendar to raise money for cancer research.
Toni's Italy partner and Shevchenko's AC Milan partner Alberto Gilardino has also signed up for the 2006 calendar, which is part of a longstanding partnership between Italian Soccer Federation FIGC and Italian Cancer Research Association AIRC.
"Twelve soccer greats for a great goal," is the slogan on the AIRC calendar, which went on sale Tuesday, bundled with top-selling women's magazines Grazia and Donna Moderna, celebrity mag Chi, newsweekly Panorama and Italy's biggest selling TV guide Sorrisi e Canzoni.
AC's Brazilian star Kaka' and Inter Milan's Portuguese star Figo are also on show along with Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero and his Italy and Juve clubmate Gianluca Zambrotta.
Figo is the only one wearing a shirt. All the others are displaying their buff torsoes. The others taking part are Roma's Vincenzo Montella, Inter's Javier Zanetti and Ivan Cordoba, Palermo's Andrea Barzagli and Lazio's Simone Inzaghi.
AIRC have been working with FIGC on their Goal For Research programme since 1995.
As well as buying the calendar, fans will have a chance to text 2 euros to AIRC next weekend.
