Many sites around Italy offer special night-time openings during summer. One of these is the Reggia di Venaria, which, every Friday until August 1, will open its doors from 7 pm to midnight.

Located just outside Turin, in Venaria Reale, the Palace of Venaria was recently included in The Art Newspaper list of the 100 most visited cultural institutions in the world. A former royal residence belonging to the Royal House of Savoy, it was inscribed onto UNESCO Heritage List in 1997.

Visitors will be able to visit the permanent collection, as well as temporary exhibitions, taking advantage of a discounted admission of €5.

The initiative also features dinners, cocktails and live performances.

In addition, every Thursday night until July 31, the Reggia di Venaria will host “Real Music”, featuring the best of Italian jazz.

Visitors looking for some nighttime thrill will be happy to know that they may even encounter a ghost: researchers at EPAS, the National Institute for the research and study of paranormal phenomena, have recorded strange sounds, whispers and voices, and claim some unknown phenomena have affected the normal functioning of their cameras – and it always happen at night.
